What a wonderful inspiring piece. I'm disabled and had to given up gardening a few years back, but at the start of this year I decided to come up with a workable plan to replant my small garden with plants that would look after themselves and be wildlife friendly, no matter what the resulting garden would look like to the casual observer. It's going to take me a long time to do it but I have made a start this summer and the feeling that I'm contributing something is just fantastic. Thank you for writing this.

I found this piece deeply resonant. I've been wrestling with many of the same questions lately, especially around how to keep participating in the world without being overwhelmed by despair.
