Fête accompli

A short report, with photos and audio, from our yearly village gala

The Ixenford Village Fête is over for another year, and from what I can tell it was a great success – though we await news, as always, as to whether ours raised more than Easthithe’s. Last year our takings were ahead by quite some margin, but it was quite hard to gloat enjoyably as it rained solidly all day for theirs, which was held – somewhat unwisely – on the already-sodden watermeadows. Parts of it were too wet even for wellies and all the second-hand books got mouldy. It wasn’t a fair fight.
